FLESH MECHANIC 2methyl is one of France's frontrunning artists when it comes to cybernetic drum'n'bass, and you can tell that just by trying out one song. Layer 8 is a perfect showcase of his skill, both in songwriting and diversity. There is a lot ot variety in songs, like the fairly straightforward beat-driven Highway, the more chaotic Mainframe or Dive that gets so increasingly heavy that you're headbanging by the end of it. This album is surely one of the highlights of modern electronic music. Favorite track: 2methyl - Highway.

K Aroo I've never heard anything like this before. 2methyl is a one of a kind beast. Each one of these songs throws you around in all kinds of directions which you wouldn't expect. Stase is a great example of this, complete rhythmical changes throughout the song. Rare gem of a bunch. Favorite track: 2methyl - Stase.

2methyl's first full length album is both a feast for the dancefloor and an example of creativity. Following the "Orb" EP, "Layer 8" is a hard, fast album of futuristic dark drum'n'bass.

But it is also an example of how to bring this genre forward while staying true to its energy. Very complex and detailed, the nine tracks of this album play with the rules of modern day's drum'n'bass and burst out of their restraints, resulting in an album whose horizon is beyond the dancefloor and which impresses by its magnitude and originality.
